The Port of Constanta is located on the western coast of the Black Sea, at 179 nM from the Bosphorus Strait and 85 nM from the Sulina Branch through which the Danube flows into the sea. It covers 3,926 ha of which 1,312 ha is land and the rest of 2,614 ha is water. Completion works on the southern side have already started to host new terminals in a favored zone with high water depth.

Among the multiple facilities offered by the Port of Constanta mention must be made of accommodation of both maritime vessel and river barges, easy access in and out the port through the Danube-Black Sea Canal, the inland waterway linking the Port of Constanta to the Danube. Cargo is shipped and transhipped into river barges to be carried towards Central Europe by Danube.

The two satellite ports of Constanta are Midia, located 25 km north of the Constanta complex and Mangalia, 38 km to the south. Both perform a vital function in the overall plan to increase the efficiency of the main port's facilities-and both are facing continuous upgradings in order to meet the growing demands of cargo owners.

SOCEP Container Terminal is located in the North port on berth no. 52 which is 232 m long and 10.2 m deep. It has a storage platform of 11.4 ha for 3,000 to 4,000 containers.

Handling is done with two gantry cranes of 40.7 tons each, two transtainers of 32 tons each, fork lifts and side loaders.

UMEX Container Terminal is located in Constanta South port on berth no. 44 and 38. The operating facilities are: mobil cranes and shore quey cranes of biggest capacity in Constanta Port. It also have different type of forklifts trucks operating general cargo, project cargo and containers.

The terminal has covered storage for cargo of same 4100 square meters, consisting of two sheeds (total floor at berth no. 44) and one sheed total floor at about 7200 square meters at berth no. 38.
