The Port can handle about 38 million tons of cargo annually.

This amount includes 14 million tons of dry cargo and 24 million tons of bulked cargo.

The Port facilities include modern equipment, transshipment machines and devices that provide reloading of the following types of cargo: oil and oil products, paper, sugar, crops, citrus plants, bananas and other types of cargo in bags, boxes, "big bags", barrels and containers.

The Port has 38 dully protected berths with a depth ranging from 8 to 13 meters.

The total length of the berth coastline exceeds 8,000 meter. Odessa Sea Port has in its disposal seven complexes for handling dry cargoes, passenger, oil and container terminals as well as harbours. A number of specialized terminals have been built of late.

Narrative

Main sea gates of Ukraine, Odessa Port navigable all year round but during severe winters ice conditions last about 30 days and ice-breaker assistance often prove to be necessary (usually from late December till beginning February, ice breaker charges from 15th January till 15th February USD 1.07 per ton for steel/generals, USD 1.57 per ton for paper).

Port operating 24hrs a day all week round.

Time brakes: Shifting gangs 07:45 — 08:15, 19:45 — 20:15 

Meal brakes 01:00 — 02:00, 13:00 — 14:00 

Overtime — on ordinary working days from 22:00 till 06:00 — 25 % surcharges

On Saturdays/Sundays/Holidays from 06:00 till 22:00 — 50% surcharges

From 22:00 till 06:00 — 100% surcharges

Facilities & Equipment


Berth #2 —

length 310 m (working zone 240m) with allowable draft 12,5 m;.

Restrictions related to the ships length / beam/draft: LOA max 240m,

Beam max 40m, Draft max 12,5m.

Equipment :

  • 1 gantry — LIEBHERR SWL 40mts/32m
  • 1 gantry — MITSUBISI SWL 35mts/27m. Productivity — 20 units per
  • hour per line each.
  • 2 transtainer MITSUBISHI SWL 30,5 mts
  • 3 old reachstakers (41 mts) , 4 new reachstackers (42 mts)
  • 4 empty container stackers
  • (9-18mts)
  • 9 head-trucks with trailers
  • 8 forklifts 1.5 — 25 mts
  • In emergency can use mobile LIEBHERR 64mts/25m — productivity 10 boxes per hour.

Berth #3 —

(On some occasions can be used also for container / ro-ro operations)

Length 230m, restrictions related to vessel: LOA 200m, Draft 11,5m 

Equipment:

  • 2 conventional «Condor» type cranes SWL 40mts/25m
  • Storage area: ca.130,000 m2 (about 8000 TEU).
  • Now developing areas for 1000 TEU more

Other: Adequate rail connections at all piers with the hinterland. Bunkering facilities & chandling. Shiprepair yards nearby.
